Introduction of the discussion
In recent years, an interactive information environment has emerged in which small sensors, motion capture, and high-resolution projector information input / output devices are skillfully spatially arranged.
In particular, digital signage and projection mapping are advanced information systems that cannot be realized unless physical attributes of real space such as light and space as materials and display size and layout are handled as design elements.
“CityCompiler” which Prof. Nakanishi has developed is a software integrated development environment with a space modeling function that can simulate the operation of a spatial information system in a virtual space.
Finding the problem
Since CityCompiler adopts a system specification that cannot minimize the error that occurs between the simulation result in the virtual space and the actual verification result in the real space, there is a functional restriction that modeling that seamlessly connects the information environment and the physical environment cannot be done in the first place.
Due to improvements in the functions and performance of information input / output devices, the boundaries between the digital information environment and the analog physical environment are becoming ambiguous.
It has come to form a system in which the information environment and the physical environment influence each other.
Therefore, I would like to deepen my research on “information architecture for amplifying intelligence” by improving the functions of CityCompiler and clarifying “structure and characteristics of people, things, and environment” from the viewpoint of environmental intelligence.
Examining the conclusion
By studying with Professor Yasuto Nakanishi, who is researching interactive information systems that connect real space and information space with the keywords of “time and space design” and “multi-scale system”, and is also the responsible developer of CityCompiler, I am sure that I could obtain various perspectives regarding my research and it would open up new horizons for me.
Therefore, I believe that Keio University’s Faculty of Environment and Information Studies is the most suitable place for pursuing my research and social contributions, and I am aspiring to enter your school and study in your laboratory.
