Introduction of the discussion

Logistics visualization (Supply Chain Visibility) refers to the use of barcodes, electronic tags, sensors, etc. in the production, manufacturing, and sales processes to grasp and control the location and status of target objects using an information system.

The logistics visualization system can be applied to various service applications, and is a highly versatile system that can be expected to develop new businesses such as prevention of goods theft, authenticity of arts and crafts, and inventory interchange.

Finding the problem

It was difficult to use the logistics visualization system as a common platform across services because the product number for service applications was often used as the identifier for identifying things in the conventional logistics visualization system.

This is due to the absence of a technical mechanism that links data between the logistics visualization system and existing service applications.

Argument

If there is an information platform in which the ordering system and inventory management can be performed with generalized product numbers (category IDs) and quantities, while monitoring and controlling the location and status of goods using individual identifiers (unique IDs) used in logistics visualization systems, it will lead to the solution of the above-mentioned problems.

Conclusion

I would like to realize an ID information platform that realizes information collection from goods, transmission of information about goods, and control of goods from information systems at a high level across application fields.

Examining the conclusion

By studying with Professor Jin Mitsugi, who is a pioneer of Auto-ID technology that handles everything from theoretical research to empirical research in logistics visualization, and one of the pioneers in logistics visualization system research, I am sure that I could obtain various perspectives regarding my research and it would open up new horizons for me.

Therefore, I believe that Keio University’s Faculty of Environment and Information Studies is the most suitable place for pursuing my research and social contributions, and I am aspiring to enter your school and study in your laboratory.
